As you will probably agree, we are constantly getting
drummed into us by the media to keep fit, but I wonder how many of us really do
the amount of exercise we are supposed to do on a daily bases. Many of us,
myself included, sit down all day at our desks, we take the car to work instead
of cycling, or walking, we eat dinner when we get home and then sit in front of
the TV for the evening, before crashing out and repeating the same routine the
following day. It is hard to break that unhealthy routine, and it does require
a certain amount of effort if you want to get fit. One thing I have done
recently is buy a pedometer which counts your steps. This is a great way of
realising just how much you move on a daily bases. The goal is to reach 10,000
steps in a day, which is considered healthy.
